Moreover, Spiranac’s leadership led the Aztecs to their first-ever Mountain West Conference Championship triumph in 2015. The Colorado-born Paige Spiranac hails from a Croatian heritage.

Her father, Dan, was a member of the University of Pittsburgh Panthers football team, which clinched the national college championship in 1976. On the other hand, her mother, Annette, excelled as a professional ballerina. Spiranac’s older sister, Lexie, also made her mark by securing a college athletic scholarship and competing on Stanford's track team.

Raised in Monument, Colorado, Spiranac initially aspired to become an Olympic gymnast and dedicated herself to intense training. However, her dreams took an unexpected turn when she suffered two knee fractures at the age of 12, forcing her to abandon gymnastics.
